It's good to give a hand up...but just too easy for it to turn into a hand out.
As stated before, the neighbor is a thief with no concern as to the other's property as evidenced by the vindictive act of tipping the pile to cover up his thefts. Not only steals, but knowingly tries to cover his tracks with plans to do it again!
I just don't think I would feel right by making him an offer of free wood. He was already getting it for free!
An offer of helping him process wood together would be a lot better. And that offer would be processing my wood and his wood and the wood he stole. Probably end up squirming his way out with some sort of excuse anyway...

Just like Yogi, "Smarter than the average bear". Seriously.
Living within your means is a seemingly alien idea to an awful lot of people.

Getting back to this guy and taking firewood.........I wonder if he helps himself to other stuff? Come to think of it, that grocery store sure does have an exceedingly large amount of stuff. They certainly shouldn't mind if I just take some of it.....then knock over a display of canned tomatoes to hide my thievery. :picard:

I agree with helping and it might do good in this situation but I keep picturing the guy tipping the pile over after stealing. Something really wrong there to make one really stop to think before giving a handout to this type of person.

I agree. The theft of the wood is one thing, but pushing the stack over is that "extra touch" that is hard to forget.

Stealing is wrong and I don't advocate it. Pushing over stacks to cover your tracks is plain dumb. With that said everyone has a story.( my story is completely opposite of my Ex wife's. It has been over 22 years.)

If you look there are problems all around us (down right scary)

As a person just stiving to be a better individual

Just trying to catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

    Maybe I'm naive.
Just my two cents and that not a lot.
