This (without all the crap in the way) shows what's going on a little better.

I have a little sawing to do so figured I'd "try it on for size".
Glad that I didn't shrink it down like I was thinking.
This should work fine for me. 20210601_072734.jpg 20210601_072603.jpg 20210601_072846.jpg

Those free timbers are turning out sweet! Being inexperienced I was worried about the size posts that I'd end up with after sawing the twist out of them.
The space in my brackets is 6 7/8" to slide in. I've got about half of them cut to 6 7/8 x 7 1/2".
They look nice with all new and clean faces.

You can see the twist, look to the far side of the mill.

    I'm with you on that.
I'll work through it.... as long as it's below around 80*.
It's back to around 65* today.

    Little by little.
Only had a few hours after dinner today. 20210612_195014.jpg 20210612_194944.jpg 20210612_194915.jpg
These screws (thumbnail) are my "crack":D 20210612_201924.jpg
I pre punched the holes and am using 6-4" screws and 6 5" pole barn nails per bracket. There "tighter" than I expected and not really concerned about bracing them

Best part about those kind of helpers(Equipment) they do not complain they just need a little TLC ( tons of labor and currency) once in a while but they sure make it easier JB
