    The flashing through the roof is still good. It was repaired after the damage was done.

    The bird got in, I'm sure, because I was in the middle or replacing the soffit when cold weather set in.

    My bird loving wife saw that the birds were using the open ends of overhang to roost in the winter time, and asked me nicely (very nicely) not to install the rest until spring.

    What can I say, I'm a sucker for a little sweet talk from that gal. :)

    I really need to just ignore everything wrong around here, because as soon as I touch something, I create another 5 jobs for myself.

    Great story Schlot.

    Speaking of birds, one time we had a van. It was parked close to the house as I'd been doing some cleaning. Came inside for a while but when I went back out, a chickadee was inside the van. Front windows were open as was the big door on passenger side. It was trying to get out the window that does not open. I simply went in and pointed my finger and moved toward it. It quickly rested onto my finger which I then moved slowly to the open window and off he went. It actually was sort of neat as it appeared that bird was not afraid. But then, I've also had chickadees land on me, especially when out deer hunting.
