You aren’t the only one with filtration problems.

Goes to show you can’t trust something out of the box. This is some terrible manufacturing, im kicking myself for not looking it over closer.

My 543 xp sucked in fines like the consumer reports highest rated vacuum cleaner. With parker O-ring lube on the O-ring. Only a mesh filter is available. Hence the modification I installed.

That’s the top half of a filter out of the Makita 7900. I think those filters/intakes are similar to older husky’s. The red beard stack and foam oil filter doesn’t fit under the low top. I could run it without the cover. Even when the filter is manufactured correctly they aren’t great.

For Zack323 the red beard filter would be a good option those 562 filters aren’t cheap. You can clean and re oil the v stack type filters. It would also need a v stack adapter.

I like the red beard set up on the 241. That with an outwears pre filter there is almost nothing on the foam. It's for a 1/5 scale RC car.

We used the outerwears on our motorcycle race team, great product. Is there an adapter for the Red Beard filter set up on a 562xp? I couldn't find one. My next idea was the put an outerwear over the stock filter. On their website, you can search by filter dimensions and I found one that will work.

That is the same filter used in the 365/365 specials I have here.

Not sure on the red beard set up for your saw.

I've used outerwear products for years too. Bikes, quads, jeeps and RC cars. Now the saws too.

Have you noticed that the Husqvarna saws that do seem to leak do not have a 100% contact point on the bottom of the filter? Looking at your 543XP, it looks like there are two points on the bottom of the filter that doesn't make contact. On the 550, 562XP, both have a cut out over the carb on the intake boot. On motorcycles, the seal point is always the bottom of the filter. I don't necessarily want to make it a high top or exposed filter, I'm going to try the the outerwear under the cover.

This is my first modern Husqvarna saw. But, it's really a Zenoah built saw.

I was under the impression, from the internets, that fine sucking was only a Stihl thing so I got the red beard set up for my 241 right away. It got installed after 10 tanks. There were no fines from the twist lock pleated factory filter discovered.

Anyway, the 543 fully contacted the base and was a snug fit over the O-ring. Anything you see on that sealing surface fell on it when removing the filter. Mine, being mesh, it was going through the filter so I bought a large scale rc car velocity stack and fit it to the saw and added that large scale RC car filter. I have about $40 into it with shipping.

If you are ok with cutting a hole in the lid of your saw for the filter that red beard velocity stack adapter and an oiled foam filter will stop all debris getting in the saw.

That’s a factory filter. There aren’t any dealers around, I get all my Makita parts from sawagain.

I have that 6421 parts saw, I might order stack and filter and cut a hole in the top of the spare cover.

I've got outerwears on both the 441 and the 261. Was a Secret Santa gift from an FHC member and a dang good one at that!

Another member told me about Stahl’s and I’m glad he did. They definitely have the most reasonable prices when it comes to Husky stuff. The filter was $25 ( which is still to much ) from there.

Got a really good deal on a Husky 24” light bar too. Much cheaper than any other place.

I just realized the filters that were $60 were the upgrade kits for the previous air intake design.

Update: Husqvarna asked me to send the saw back to HL Supply. Shipping is on my dime but just want to get it looked at before continuing.
