If he was happy today, wait till he gets some tanks of gas through it! They really come alive by tank 8-10!

A 3.7 cube power head is pretty hard to beat for longevity, power and ease of use.
And 10% off is a good deal on a new saw. What length bar did he get with it ??

If I was going to use them that's the order. Stihls handle the worst to me of any of them.

    20" 3/8 .050

I did a couple cuts with it. Feels like a snappier version of my 2166. Smoother as well. Smoother than my 550 I think. It's a very nice saw.

He so far is only wanting to put dual spikes on. I found a 3/4 wrap kit on Baileys website that comes with catcher, spikes and 3/4 handle for like $30. He's all over that. Ha!

    Some nice cutting saws !!!
I've not used the 3.7 ci size saws as much as bigger or smaller. But, I've used them a lot more than the average guy. A 30" is pushing it with full comp chain. Not as much for the powerhead but for the amount of oil it pumps. Running full skip to keep the rpm up will help.
Dual dogs will help making straight bucking cuts. Full wrap handle bar is ALWAYS an improvement !!

Believe that was oak. I remember walking by that log. He was going to saw boards from it.

Yup that's an oak. 390 in it for some "perspective".
