    Mech,

How much does more or less downward pressure on the bar effect the cut? You appeared to stay neutral for the purpose of trying the dif set-ups, using similar wood. Obviously, a saw/chain combo that has trouble will be worse with added down pressure. What about a combo that works well? Is there much advantage in down pressure? Thinking that if the saw is optimal, it'll drop thru the cut at it's best rate on it's own?

That about sums it up. It comes down to operator preference really. I like a saw with a little bit of torque in reserve, especially for falling. Others may not mind just having to use a light touch. I stated early on that there are things that you may not see/hear in the video that you have to have the saw in hand to detect.

I watch some guys look like they could shut the saw off and still get some cutting done, with the flailing they do on a basic straight down cut. Good to know there isn't much advantage in adding work to the work…

    PS3 in it's ultimate form...
Notice I did not remove much tooth like on a standard 3/8 chain... There was good reason for that...;)

Somehow I missed this. I go to about 25° top plate when square filing. I'm not in the normal range for work chain but like how it works for me and my use.

Yes PS has been out since last year if I remember right (new loops hanging as I type). I have run and tested PS3 since 2011. Did a thread on PS3 back in 2011 on the Chainsaw Repair site.

Good stuff from what I seen. I would like to use the 63 pm for milling. Wonder if it will hold up for a 088 with a 50-60"?

I have a 36" .050" bar I may try it on with the 385 or 390. Not sure I want to buy a roll and find out it won't hold up.

If it don't, split it into 55 and 56 dl loops and I'll buy it from you...
    Oh, I got a top handle 360t that uses 52 I think...

Got my new P-7 rim mounted on the 024, just waiting now for my 3003-000-6313 bar and chain to arrive in the mail! ;) Thanks again for the timely work you did on this! The 024 has new rings and seals too after a lot of use this winter. Its also wearing a "new/old" better running WT-22 carb off my 026 that I put on it. The 026 got a brand new WT-194 to celebrate its/my upcoming birthday.

Make sure you let us know how you like the setup. The 024 should show very positive results switching to Picco chain over .325 as it makes a bit less power than my MS261C-M.

Will do. And if for some reason I don't like it on the 024, or I decide to sell my 024 ......................... I know of a hot little 026 that would like to wear it to the prom.

I may try to get a 115 dl loop. I guess a new rim sprocket with the new bar would work.

Tried out a .325 8t with a 18" bar and RS chain filed once on MasterMech recommendation. Gotta say I still prefer the 7t in .325 for my masterminded 261c w/18" bar. I have tried 3/8 in 16" on this saw and again I keep coming back to .325. Not sure about times or anything, (the 8t could very well be a little faster)but I just like the "feel" of higher rpms and the ability to "muscle" the saw more. Gotta try 3/8 picco, but that has to wait for awhile. 8t .325 might be better for a 16" outfit the way I like to cut though. I'm pretty much sold on 18" bar/chains for my uses, i'm using this 261c for all my firewood cutting these days. Anyways, this is fun to mess with.

On a 026 setup that has a 16" es 3/8 .050 60dl will this ps chain work on that setup or does rim and bar have to be changed also.
