It makes me sad in a way . These are great entry level/general firewood saws.......that fit the bill for a lot of folks . I wish there was more that could be done to them...but then they wouldnt be reasonably priced any more either I guess . My first saw was a Husqvarna 350 that lasted 10 hard learning years of use before I semi-retired it.......the next was a Husqvarna 450 . I had 16 inch bars on both . But I also got a 20 inch bar for the 450 to help aid my back in the bend downs :) I still only cut 1o to 16 inch stuff.....so with a good sharp chain...the 20 inch bar didnt cause a noticeable power change for me . BUT..........on the rare occasion that I had to bury the 20in......it created some slower cuts and alot of heat on my left hand :( I was bummed when I got rid of it to move up to XP's and such . But I wanted a more versatile saw.....then I realized having many saws with different bar set-ups was somewhat socially acceptable :) :) :) ITs fun...except when it gets out of hand !! Good luck with your upcoming decision !

You won't regret more saw. I have never wanted less displacement in anything with a motor. More, yes. Less, never.

Your local cl will probably bring more coin than a dealer trade. Even flea bay.

Consider the extra $ you have to throw at it as time that you are buying back due to less cutting time or more done in the same amount of time. It won't take long to get your return on investment. Not to mention the smiles that come with kicking a 30 foot logs azz in 12 minutes.

If it's something you don't mind throwing the coin at, I see a new 562 ex pee in your future...
    Something you'll not regret...

I 100% agree. Dont trade it in. They won't want to give you anything. Sell it outright. Just like a car, the dealer wants to buy low and resell. Where if you sell it on CL, 80% or better are looking to buy to keep and 20% will try and low ball you so they can resell for profit. But even the Low ballers will give you more than the dealer.

The 562xp is an awesome saw. But for money saved, the 555 is its brother and slightly de-tuned. Will still run a 24"/25" bar and will run the 455 into the dirt. Never need to tune, and a great one saw plan. Plus, I think it wears the same bar mount as the 455? Maybe keep the 16" bar and get the 555 with a 20" or vise versa.

The 555 (aka- Triple Nickel) is a sexy machine!

It does indeed share bar mounts with the 455. I almost recommended the 555 because of the price difference but when someone is looking for power...... Hard to shy away from the 562 for the same weight. I dunno about you guys but I don't consider .4 hp to be slightly detuned. That's a pretty noticeable difference. Could somebody who wanted to swap the transfer covers and port it get a whale of a deal on a 555? Absolutely. But if you want the best performance without messing with it, the 562 is a tough nut to crack.

Having had and ran both. I can hardly tell the difference. I would rather have the extra coin. If you buy from Terry and use your own bar, it's over $200. Or a port job, depending on the builder. A ported 555 will take a stock 562's lunch money.

Same with the 545 and 550xp. W8eye has also stated the same sentiment.

The 562 snaps a little faster, but the crank stuffers have to add some weight? So I doubt it's ounce for ounce. Plus all that Ugly grey paint that scratches and fades. ;)

    Dex, you trolling?

Oslo - Bring the 455 over and we can gut that muffler and re-tune. Make your decision after that, but it's never going to be happy with a 24" bar.

For relatively cheap money (or the equivalent of a dealer trade), you could keep the 455 and find a decent used 70cc+ saw. I might have one to offer in the near future. The classifieds here and AS pop up some pretty awesome pro grade saws at reasonable prices for a serious buyer and you can generally buy with confidence.

I'm thinking a 70cc may be a big saw for what I'm used to. To be honest, the 455 cuts well until the bar is dug in. That's why I'm thinking a 60cc will handle the 20" bar with no problem. I cut about 8-10 cord of wood per year. Not all for me, I volunteer to help out when I can.
What's the $ difference between the 555 and the 562? Are the mounts on these two saws the same as the 455? Right now it's about the $$$$.

The 455 is a pig, very big for what it is, so you might be surprised.

PHO, and that 455 is about 1.5lbs lighter than an 038, 441, or 460. I compared to the 3 because those I have run and all come in around 14.5 lbs power head only. Come cut some wood for me and you can run something bigger to see if it fits. I have a 25" bar for the 441 & 038.

Oslo, have a look at the classifieds, I have a 62cc Husqvarna 362XP up there. However the 562 at 59.8cc is a SWEET saw and no messing with the carb!

The 362 uses the k095 bar mount same I think as your 455.

If you buy husky chain your buying oregon chains, as they make them. And dont trade the saw in sell out here or elsewhere in the classifieds. A dealer won't give you but maybe 30% of its value maybe 50% if your lucky. Then shop for new or look on here in the classifieds to get the bang for your buck.

If you can find a saw such as a 365/372 for the same price as a 60cc saw, get it. It will still feel good with a 20 inch bar and be a different ball game as far as power goes. I like 60's, but I would do without one to have a 70cc+ saw. A 50cc saw and a 70-80cc saw will make about any firewooder happy. I say 80 because a 7900 is as attainable as a 60cc husqy/stihl most of the time. A 6400 can be had for very little money and will hang right with a 70cc saw.

+1 Cory! and you can always throw a 7300 or 7900 top end on it. Or you could have Cory keep an eye out for a Solo 665 1mm stroked crank and all! Solo was a BIG seller down South and there should be decent ones all over. And Cory If you come across a Solo 665/675/681 let me know, even if it needs a top end as long as the bottom end is good!

Oslo, given you are in MA and I in NY, I could get the 362 to you shipping included for the advertised price. I go along with the rest of the guys, keep your 455 put a shorter bar on it use your new saw with the 20!

About a $100 difference between the 555 and the 562. The 562 will not share bars with the 455 but the 555 will. Another option for you is the Jonsered 2260. All the performance of the 562, (same saw under the hood) but uses the smaller bar mount so it will share bars with the 455. If that all sounds good, and you don't have a local JRed dealer, you should give TLandrum a call. Pretty sure he could make the $$ worth your while too. Dex has bought a couple new saws from him now and can vouch for him.

You might also contact Spike60, Bob is both a Husqvarna and Jonsered dealer. Much closer to you than TL so ship will be less! The small mount Jonsered 2260 sounds to me to be the best of all since you get a new saw with a warranty and you can swap cutting equipment between your saws.
