Apparently, while I was trying to figure out the ridiculously complex and irrational way that Oregon/Husq label their bars and chains, you got the real answer. I guess the "80" on the drivers of your odd-ball chain is some sort of Husq translation of Oregon 72V Vanguard. Sheesh! Stihl labeling at least makes a little bit of sense with the pitch and gauge codes consistent on all chains, regardless of the cutter.

Yes, note that narrow kerf symbol that looks like a long necked beer bottle in a circle.

    That's because it's Husqvarna H80 chain, aka, Oregon 72V.

Hah, I figured that out while you were posting. :picard: Now I think I'll go try to learn a less confusing new language, perhaps Sandskrit or maybe one of the Khoisan "click" languages of Africa.:headbang:

Oregon/Husqvarna chain nomenclature makes Stihl's system look Stone Age simple.

It's hard enough figuring out all the bars and chains to get the right one, much less having one in the wrong dang box:hair:

Gentlemen, we have forgotten to warn Schlot about Oregon's consumer chain numbering system. Asking for a 95VPX080G chain in a big box or general hardware store will probably get him a blank stare. What he wants there is a G80 chain. Take a look at the upper left corner of this ridiculously overpriced EBay chain box.

Click to zoom and you'll see 95VPX printed under the gold G80 identification link. That number is more likely to work at a hardware store.

OldJack I noticed the Oregon chains at my fleet farm type store have the generic consumer labeling you talk about. I did look for an Oregon chain (G72?) it listed several Huskies including the 450 Rancher as model it worked with. Oddly it had an asterisk by the Huskies, which indicated I was to verify that it had a 3/8" sprocket.

mike bayerl, I'd have to look for a Huskies dealer. The only ones I know are Stihl and Echo.

I did pick up another chain today in an identical box as the one we are talking about. I haven't got it out yet, but right away I see it is not a full chisel.

You've got sharp eyes. The link title is wrong, but if you click on it it takes you to the 95TXL chain. I should have noted that but I was trying to do too much at one time.

There's several saws, including my Dolmar 5105, that can be shipped with .325" or 3/8" chain.

Sharp eyes?.....LOL! Only if I look through the correct part of my lineless bifocals.

Yep. 50cc seems to be the demarcation line for 325 and 3/8. I personally prefer the 3/8 on my 50cc saws, but I run 16" and occasionally 18" bars on them.

All of you here give great tips, and I agree with them. I would advise you first of all read the reviews on other sites on the Internet and find guidance on the use of the chain, which you bought. :headbang: That would be the best way out. And so easy to buy a Husky 450 original chain and you all will be well! This model, by the way, I highly recommend here

I thought it was....but someone at factory did a switch a roo. :)

I ran the new bar and new chain this last weekend. Worked flawlessly. Thanks all.

The new chain was the same package as before but was a totally different chain. It had the same cutters as the chain that came with the saw.

I'm so glad to here it all worked out. I guess the lesson here is that when going to buy a chain it definitely helps to bring the saw/bar/chain and test fit before purchasing, especially when going to a Big Box.

P.S. not to add any more confusion.... But, for the sake of completeness, I believe that Carlton also makes a 0.325 x 0.050 Narrow Kerf chain that would fit your sprocket and bar. It's labeled "Woodland PRO 20NK" or 20NKB. :picard:
