I wouldn't be without the full wraps on the 2100CD,288XPW & 3 of my big old Mac's.Since most of the areas I'm working in are fairly steep slopes & far from level ground.I can still get a stump within 4-5 inches of the ground if need be.
Why dont I have one of those 372's ?????? Im starting to bend on my "small" saw only theory !!!! Thanks guys
Dan's 346 ported are the same way. His 46cc 346's I had would out cut most the of 50cc 346's you see out there. Only super strong 346 46cc and 50cc I have seen and ran that were strong like Dans were Andre's.
Therin lies my problem. 4-5" won't clear the mower! And that is the criteria for many yard tree removals. Maybe if I had a dedicated falling saw I would do a 3/4 or full wrap. Great, now I need a new saw. Thanks Jon. Thanks a lot.
I'm still waiting to see the 572 in 2020. I tested a stock demo 562 and left unimpressed. Even though many are impressed. I'm thinking it must have been a dud runner and not broke in. Thats all I can figure. I did trade for a new 550 and bought a 545 for a friend here (he paid for). To test out and IMO I take them both over a 346 anymore stock for stock.
I have two new saws that I bought from Spike60 a 562 & 543 that I haven't made time to put gas in and run. Took down a couple of smaller dead trees for my BIL 10-12 inches 40 feet tall, thought about using one of the new saws for that, ended up grabbing my Poulan 3000 "green meanie", worked great. Dropped them both, bucked them up and was gone in a couple hours. Great little saw!
I have a saw or an extra half wrap to flush cut stumps if I have to. I usually won't try to cut them that low any way as it usually eats a chain or two for one cut.
Tim I would really like to see some pics of that 272XP West Coast. I just put a modified Jonsered 670 Western full-wrap on my 272XP. I like it. Put a CB lever from a 288XP on the clutch cover to work with the full-wrap. Husky cataloged different CB levers for the full-wrap equipped 268's and 272's. I'm sure that special CB flag is part of the West Coast setup.
Thanks guys. It's a handy little bugger, and a keeper. That wrap bar setup was also available from Homelite as part of the "Western Kit". The IPL shows the various parts, with a notation about the 'kit'. Consisted of the handlebar, handlebar bracket, spike set (many E-Z's didn't have 'em), and the different muffler (with the heat shield). Arrowhead got an NOS Western kit a while back (from ebay IIRC) and installed it on a cherry S E-Z. These are some of my favorite saws. They're 41cc, but act like they're 50cc. Well built too. I brought it with me to the PNW GTG this year. Here it is along with some other PNW full-wrap saws.
