I have some dead oak branches that at 30' or higher. What is the best option for cutting them down other than hiring a tree guy to climb up and do it? Some are 6" to 8" in diameter.
Using a shotgun would have never occurred to me and it does sound dangerous. Has anybody used a slingshot and rope saw?
Was honestly thinking 7.62x39 but was interpreted as shotgun for reasons. Honestly something I'd do/done for fun rather than utility. You can fell also, but not cost effective for ammo.
Tree trimming and ladders are bad juju...my partner at work ended up in the hospital and early/disability retirement from this very thing
X2...same thing happened with a coworker here...fell from 40' ladder, broke both ankles, slight fracture of his back. He was out for 4 months, he did come back to work. He's retired now though
Rent a lift like the one above to do it safely. If lim s are that big, they need to be pieced down. Way to big for a rope saw.
I guess I should've put an eye roll emoji at the end? Purely sarcasm. I noticed how the OP was reluctant about a man lift so I figured I'd put a different option out there.
You definitely need to be some sort of special to use a ladder for any heavy tree work. Pruning the inside of apple trees, sure. Cutting a 3" limb or bigger while on a ladder might be asking for it.
