    I love my 241.
It's fast and light. I cut a lot of tops. I have a 362 for the bigger stuff.

Have you had a chance to handle the new lightweight version?

Not yet. I should just waltz into a dealer and paw one to death.

Interesting, Stihl.ca has them both listed as 10.8 lbs but that doesn't make much sense.

I think that if you go with the 241 you would use it as intended and have a great 2 saw combo with the 044. However, if you go with the 261, i think it would become your goto saw and take on some of the 044's duties too.

If you are limbing on the ground, you can run a little longer bar on the 261 so that you don't have to bend over as much. Easier on the back at the end of the day.

Thanks Dall. So are all the new 261s lightweights or is that a special lightweight model?

the new version of the 261 is lighter than the first version the new version has a smaller more sleek clutch cover and a way you can tell what version is to look at the cylinder fins
old version is perpendicular to the stroke and the new version is at a angle
new version was started about a year ago

The heavy model is likely the Arctic version with heated grips.

im only seeing 2 the 261cm and the 261cmq which is the quickstop
the quickstop looks to be the old version
when they came out with the new version they dropped 1/2 pound from the saw
