At the end of each month of the heating season, I update my calendar with the wood use for the month, by rack. Each rack is 1/3 cord. At the end of October, I had used up 1.5 racks. Same now, at the end of December. 1.5 racks. So, 1 cord total, so far. Mostly shoulder wood. I have burned oak only for overnight. Even that, just a couple of splits at a time leaves me morning coals. Once the nights settle into the 20's and lower, oak use will increase.
I finally got through just over a cord so far. I usually stack 3.25 cord or so for each season and will have a little leftover most years. I'm not complaining. The darker stuff in the pic is some of the oak that was left from last year (there's more in the back row).
Up to about 2.5 face cords now with winter finally really showing up. 99% of its been cherry and elm.
