You guys don't strike match sticks off fence posts? Not sure how many Ohio blue tips I've been through or number of rounds, it can be done - not consistently...by me anyways When we go to our National forest range I always take a couple golf balls, set them on top of the posts at 75 & 100yds. With my .270 I can center one at 70yds, 100yds I've nicked a few. Never been able to hit one over 50yds with either an AR or Mini 14 - it's more fun to explode water jugs at farther distances with those anyways
I really like Walthers. My wife carries a Walther P22 I believe it is called. Feels great in hand and is reliable. Have to shoot the faster of the .22 ammo though.
Walter p22 is cool gun. And Yea I asked if that was fake. Believe it not some people buy them??? My brother in law has a walter P22 with the can on it. Sounds like an air gun.
Never seen a fake yet. Seen only real ones at the range local. Bro just told me you have to jump through a few hoops and pay some lira. But in the end you get some quite play. Said he has 2 more in route . One is for 9mm and the other is in 5.56
a lot of ranges won't allow suppressors, they don't know the laws and don't want the liability with NFA items. That's pretty kick zzz... Getting a suppressor isn't easy. Two ways we have is to get the local sherif to sign off on the form 2 application. If the local sherif won't sign off (a lot won't, because a suppressor is same as a machine gun to non gun people) then you can set up a trust. A trust also allows other people to use those items without your presence. also helps if something happens to you, they can be passed down in your will. If I got approval without a trust and died, my family couldn't legally take possession on them without going through the ATF/NFA background and 250 tax stamp per item... The tax stamp cost 250 bucks and the aft currently has a 8-10 month wait. Once the background clears, the aft cashes your 250 dollar check, then they mail the taxation stamp back to you. then you can pick up your suppressor. most suppressors start at 500 bucks. so each suppressor is a minimum of 750 bucks. I looked into it pretty hard because every time I shoot the neighbors call the sherif. So much for living in the country... A few buddies have them, I can't justify the costs. A suppressor on a 5.56 won't be james bond quiet at all, it is considerably more quiet and you can shoot them without ear protection, but you will still have the sonic "CRACK" sound of the bullet breaking supersonic speeds. 9mm 45, and sub sonic (below 1050 ft/sec ammo) is ideal for suppressors and makes for some really quiet shooting. but it isn't like the movies make them out to be. The tax stamp is essentially a vehicle registration for NFA items. suppressors, SBR's (short barreled rifles, full auto is a class 3) They make plenty of fake suppressors. I had a sig 522 rifle that was a 22 looking AR with a fake can on it from the factory. I wanted to do a suppressor and an SBR on an AR just to make it still rifle sized once the can is attached, but then ATF came out and said the shoulder brace didn't reclassify a pistol as a rifle once fired from the shoulder. a short barreled AR is EXTREMELY loud. anyways, sorry to ramble. edit: here it is... sold it 2-3 years ago. was a fun plinker, but decided to build a dedicated 22 AR, which i still haven't gotten around to doing.
Havent had much chance to shoot it, it's not something im comfortable discharging in the backyard and i still dont have my carry permit which really limits where i can go. Will have to get together with Sinngetreu sometime soon and have a shooting party.
No where near the cost you mentioned Steve to buy one. When you have a dealers license. Maybe after mark up from a dealer to you?
Per bro It cost $200-$300 (I can't remember now) for one on .22. The Federal tax stamp is $200. Its good for life though. You have to get fingerprinted at your local LEO ($20) and the Sheriff or Chief must sign off on it. Finally a Class 3 Dealer does the transfer and normally charges ($50)
I bought a P22 when they first came out. I wanted to like it. It jammed 2-3 rounds per magazine. I sent it back to the factory twice. They sent me new magazines after cleaning and polishing the feed ramp which I did as well. It didn't matter what I did. CCI mini mags were the most reliable but still almost garenteed one fail to feed per mag.. I sold it off. that was probably 10 years ago now. I've had quite a few 22's. I love them. I sold off my SR22 which reminded me of the P22, but was reliable. I sold my MK3 LITE also. I guess I like the old skool heavy target shooters.. the beretta noes what probably the best cheap budget shooter of the bunch. Gave that one to my dad. my favorites now... MK3 hunter 4.5" (rare) and the MK3 hunter 6 7/8". the MK2 was the first gun I ever shot. its the long pencil barrel one in the pics. I got it from my uncle when he passed away. I made the wrap around grips on the MK3 with the short barrel.
yes, dealer cost is much cheaper. 22 suppressors are much cheaper than 5.56 or 30 cal cans. when I said 250 tax stamp, I meant 200 for the stamp, plus 50 for the transfer to cover the paperwork on the FFL's end. most retail prices for 22 suppressors are 400 and up. the more HD you want it, the more it goes up. the lighter you want it, the more it goes up. walk into a class 3 shop and price suppressor sometime... a lot of times they cost more than the price of the firearm, then 200 tax stamp, 40-50 transfer and if you set up a trust, add another 1-200 to that (trust setup is a 1 time fee just like the tax stamp). really easy to have 1K wrapped up into a "cheap" suppressor. Dealer cost doesn't quite compare to what you and I could buy walking into a shop though, so that is a little misleading to people. 5.56 cans start at 500 for the cheap ones.. the YHM (yankee hill machine) one I wanted was 850, msrp was 1050 iirc. that was not a titanium version, just steel and rebuildable. some of the cheaper ones are not rebuildable or don't have a lifetime warranty. your search options start from 0-1K and 1K and up... lol http://yhm.net/sound-suppression/rifle-suppressors.html http://yhm.net/sound-suppression/rifle-suppressors.html?cat=111
Well thats a bummer... do y'all have open carry up there over there? I routinely shoot in my backyard, but I also built a mega backstop. the sherif quit coming over to BS once he saw the 8' tall, 3 layer deep of railroad ties backstop I made with fill behind it. neighbor kept calling sherif and tried saying I was shooting at his cattle a mile away with 9mm and 45 handguns...
