Got one buck tag left so gonna haft to be a big boy for the next shot. Don't know how much hunting I'll be doing, got a 81 yo fil with cancer and a 72 yo dad with something going on so being pulled in a lot of different directions. Go where I'm needed.
Wisconsin’s gun opener was today. I was too sick to get out this morning (head cold not covid). I felt better by 2pm so walked to my woods and this guy appeared chasing 2 does at 230. I am almost embarrassed to say I took him with a 350 Remington Mag at 15 feet. Yes, I said feet. He didn’t go far. 14 points 17 1/2” inside spread. A main frame ten with 4 stickers around his brow tines. I saw him on my walk about two weeks ago and hoped I would see him again with a gun in my hands. and so it goes,,,
Congratulations! I wouldn’t feel at all embarrassed about an easy slam dunk hunt….Makes up for all of those freezing your hiney off long days with nothing to show for it but frost bite. Nicely done!
Well, PA archery season was a complete bust for me. Never even saw any deer even close to my stands, except the ones I spooked walking into the woods. Rifle season starts Saturday...
3 more from my township. All less than two miles from my 40 and all were chasing does. Still hot rut here.
Here's my results from opening weekend of Wisconsin gun deer season. 7 pointer First deer I've taken from my Dad's hut since he passed. My Dad's ashes were spread just outside the window I shot this guy at this am. It was 7° at 7:15 when he rambled into my lane, all the way at the end about 110-120 yards. I didn't even get to open my mtn dew or start the fire in the hut before he came into view. He wasn't sticking around, so when I had a shot, I took it. He put his head down and I put the 7mm rem mag right between his shoulders. Instant drop. Yesterday was brutally cold. I had a fire going all day in the stove in the hut. Didn't see anything except tracks though, from overnight or super early in the AM before season opened. Was able to get home early today, and took Monday off previously, so I'll do some wood moving and stacking tomorrow.
Man the bucks are dropping like flies around here. They are still chasing does. Until the bullet hits the bone. Three more neighbors scored
The big boys just keep dropping. I know this guys wife she showed me trail cam pics of this guy when we were waiting in line to vote. Her hub has pics of him for the last three years all at night. About 4 miles from me.
