Generally speaking, it appears that many feel
    that whatever dealers tell them,
they are full of bull doodoo, regardless.
Best to just let it go...

funny how that works, huh? My taxes, service charge, etc portion of my electric bill actually are substantially higher than my actual useage.....

yea, Pete...my conclusion as well. The upside of potential "I told you so's" versus the definite downside of accusations of profiteering given the price of barrels of crude just isnt worth it for me. Our Spring special, and the results thereof, wont be communicated here, as there inst an upside at all for me. I think it will be an interesting fall though.....but we'll see!

Also heard there will be no availability guarantee on some after July.

a little off topic but heat related pre buy on propane $1.15/gal just got the notice today. By time i install my pellet stove in the basement + pellets, cost wise, I would be better off using a small propane furnace for that area. right now it works out to apx $13.75 cheaper for the propane vs the pellets at $229/ton for apx same btu. decisions decisions. Only need the heat when I am working down there.
Buying the furnace ( 95%) and install is cheaper than the cost of the flue for the pellet stove - plastic siding so have to go all the way up some 40 ft worth on the outside vs a couple feet horz. for the conventional furnace which is just pvc.

I dont have mine yet.......but I know a guy who sells pellets.....pretty close to him, so I am not worried.

Yea, some mills are still shut down, and thats about 2 months worth of production lost that will never be regained. Im not going out on a limb and saying there will be a shortage, as we dont yet know what the effect of the cheap fuel oil will have on the pellet market. Certainly there will be some people burning oil instead, at least in the Northeast, which is really the only area I care about.

Agreed, you wont see any more price reductions with only price increases in the future from EVERY PELLET SUPPLIER.....at least the 10 we sell.

We are certainly seeing odd shortages in things that many people didnt predict....the pressure treated market is on a rocket ride right now, as many treaters are experiencing 2x and 3x increases in business due to folks being locked at home and actually having the time to do those "honey do" lists. We went from being able to snatch up a truck of PT in 2-3 days to 3 weeks.

There are plenty of supply side problems that noone really considered. I think the economic impact will be far worse. I feel for the people who want to work and still are unable to, with no real end in sight. I notice that its the folks who are "working from home" and are still being paid a full paycheck with the bennies who seem to be driving this (politicians). As they get comfortable with the "new norm", they will feel little pressure to "open the economy" as they can do their thing at home (a bit like the Roman Emperor Tiberias, who decided he could rule the empire from Capri for the last decade....didnt work real well, and then came Gaius Germanicus(Caligula)....and we all know how THAT went), with no real contact with their constituents. Meanwhile, people are out of work, accumulating even more debt, as the government prints yet more money to pay the price of unemployment, as well as the additional kicker. Notice how I didnt mention the "other forum", where the people who insist on "sheltering in place" reside? :emb:

So, back to pellets...it will prove to be an interesting fall for the procrastinators, I feel. Our spring sale was up by quite a margin over last year. my suggestion, and I could be wrong, would be to buy early....while you still can.

    Yeah.. same here.
I think a lot of people really did use their stimulus bucks,
to buy early, and be done with it..
Hard to explain the higher sales numbers, so early.
We know it is not because they believe the possible problem story..

My dealer had his spring buy a few weeks or more earlier than normal. Anticipated the production and shipping problems that were to come? Ordered 4 tons and got in under the wire back then before supply got limited.
