Our modern firearm season starts tomorrow and goes through Nov 1. I have to work all weekend, then I'm off for a little over 2 weeks.

Heading to the stand this morning. 32 degrees right now. Hopefully they will be on their feet.

Hope I'm not:Yar: the thread. Is there a thread of before harvest pics?
We have seen 4 so far this morning, group of 2 does and a yearling 1017200803.jpg And a single yearling. About 70 yrs away. Used my phone and binoculars to take this pic. 1017200837.jpg Add a spike to the group 1017200927.jpg

Hunted Pennsylvania muzzleloader today, shot a nice adult doe at 6:00pm. Sorry, no pictures. Had just enough time to field dress and drag to the truck before dark.

Didn't realize she was the gimpy doe that I've seen the Las 3 seasons. She could pick me off and let all her friends know. Happy to grind that smart old girl for burger

Yep, it's nice to get the ol smart ones out of the herd. I had a doe like that 1 yr. She made the mistake of spotting me sitting in a box stand, walked into the edge of the woods, looked back over her shoulder and blew at me again. I cleaned out her sinuses...lol

She blows, she goes. Always a relief taking out one of the smart ones. I've got one that's been blowing my spot up for 3 years lol.

We came in from cutting grass today, grabbed our gear and walked to the tower stand again. Saw 8 deer this evening. 4 does in 1 group, the spike, yearling doe, 4 point and 9 point. The 9 point was 200 yrs away, told my hunny to wait, she isn't used to shooting that distance. Got a couple pictures of him with binoculars and phone. 6395.jpeg 6397.jpeg
She was a little upset, but learned patience. About 1 HR later he came out again, probably 60 yrs from the stand. She said I was a good coach.

Got a close up of him then 1019201948_HDR.jpg

T.Jeff Veal congrats to the mrs on a great buck! What round is she using? Looks like it hit him like a freight train.

She shoots a 7mm-08 Ruger American and Leopold 3x9x50 scope. She hit him a little low, did take out his left shoulder, never found any blood, glad I had the video to see where he ran in the woods, probably went 40 or so yards.
She got it Oct '16 IMG_20161025_223301406.jpg
Her first deer with it, a doe, the day after she got it. IMG_20161026_200110296.jpg Her buck collection so far. 1230192207.jpg

T.Jeff Veal nice! 7mm-08 is a great round. Even with the low shot, taking out a shoulder usually slows em down lol.
