Some of the states down south are underway with August openers so post em up til the end of your respected states last day of the final season!
I think SC is one of those states. Personally, I doubt if I'd enjoy it much in August and for sure you'd have to take care of the meat immediately. We worry because sometimes it might get up to 50 or more sometimes here during hunting season and quickly take care of the meat. For sure when it is hot, you hope for a quick kill and no overnight wait to track them! But here, we do start in October although I do not hunt much in the early part of the season. I've shot a few early on but much prefer to wait.
I never liked hunting in heat. Our shotgun season starts in November right before thanksgiving and one year it was in the 70s for two days. Hunted in a t-shirt and didn't even want to shoot a deer. The meat would have spoiled unless I butchered it that night or sent it to the processor.
Our archery season starts September 10th. We have earn-a-buck until October 1st. I'll usually take a doe in the first couple of days. The first deer I kill every year I donate to Hunters Helping the Hungry. After that I'm buck hunting until the weather cools.
