Not sure if you saw post just before yours. Pretty close together time wise and then I added to it. LOL And thank you.
I went out and sprayed the backhoe pins and all things mechanical about them with Liquid Wrench. I’ll tap on everything a little later with a hammer and strategically placed bolt. Then spray again. Hopefully that will help loosen things up for the mechanic when he comes back tomorrow.
In my experience, most fixes are easy when you have: knowledge; tools and right parts.. Getting those 3 things together are
Congrats. I have the same tractor. I’m the 3rd owner and the 3 pt arms were still new in the box, so the backhoe release levers were froze on it, also. Like you said, spray it down with penetrating oil and they will free up. The levers are spring loaded and in the lock position, they lock 2 C-shaped cogs in place. Both the levers and the cogs were froze up on mine. Once I got the hoe off, I pressure washed it and covered the release mechanism in white lithium spray grease and it’s been fine for the last six or seven years. I’ve read also that the front pump coupler is a weak point. They simply rust out after a while and the splines don’t lock up anymore. I haven’t had that problem with mine yet, fortunately
Good first hand experience/knowledge. Sorry to hear of issues on day 1 Gasifier but, as you said.. definitely better now than a week or 2 down the road.. err.. trails
I wonder if some antiseize, or moly lube (any kind of grease really) would help with this...it's not an uncommon failure on permanently mounted spline joints...as soon as that rust starts, it just chews things right up!
I've owned a few over the years. They are very handy and save a LOT of hand work. I will eventually have a third function kit added and get a grapple. When I have cash in hand. Thanks for the info.
Sure would. I sprayed the crap out of it with Liquid Wrench last night. Wish the prior owner would have kept it lubricated with something. I wonder if they ever even took the backhoe off. That is how bad it was stuck on there.
I have been working. But my trusty neighbor went down today and met the mechanic. Parts came in on time. He says they put it all back together. All hydraulics back to working well. Managed to get the backhoe off, after a fight for a while! Only one lever broken. That will have to be welded back on. But, it's off. Now I can lubricate everything, including the pins that it locks to, and keep working those levers to get things functioning. I also called the dealer and asked them if the mechanic could do an oil change while he was there. I will pay for that separate from work on hydraulics. Everything done. Time to get some mowing done tonight. Will be good to get a chance to run it for a couple hours tonight anyway. Then back to work. That was another learning experience.
