We went for like 6 years without it but as it ages things leak. After all it is 14 years old. Bit doesnt look 10 when cleaned up. I need to wash and buff it.

Decent logic, but I don't think it's accurate to say engines cease to show wear after the break-in period. Engines wear out. Engines fail. These tests can show when internal bearings are starting to go based on certain metals increasing in the oil. They can show when failures are leading to gasoline or antifreeze contaminating the oil. As indicated in the wording I posted, the tests have drawn suspicion to my air filter choices. There is a lot to learn and/or monitor well after an engine is broken in. I should have done this initially, but very soon I'll attach my latest report to shed some light on just what all they can tell you.

Now, for the record, to say that the engine was well broken in when my experiment started is VERY true! To be exact, it had 137,479 miles when I got the first analysis. And truthfully, the first test was not motivated by increasing my oil change interval, but rather just to see how the engine was doing.

Last oil change was 13,059 miles and I had added 1/2 qt.

I run quarterly analysis on oil 6kgal oil reservoirs on gas turbines, that's why I throw out the caveat of broken in ICE's with no historical analysis - nothing more nothing less;)

My car has the oil percentage, and right now I need to change it, it's a09 Pontiac g5, with 120,000 on it and the oil is golden every time I check it, I'm not sure how many miles I can get on an oil change but it seems like a LOT of miles, I drive all the time and rarely change it. Drove from wisconsin to Vegas and back and it only dropped 8 percent of I remember correctly

I am of the opinion that today's largely machine produced engines have really tight tolerances, great alloys, good design, etc and if running good quality oil combined with the computers and fuel injection systems they run clean and a long time if treated well. I must confess I do not try and stretch the mileage per change to the limit but prefer to err on the side of caution. Same with firewood - don't care if we burn 5 or 8 or 10 cords in a given winter - just want to be warm and cozy and so on - you know the drill - happy wife, happy life!
