Had a guy give me 4-5 cords of 10 yr old oak logs. I took the time on the first truckload and skinned em on the splitter, beautiful stuff after a few days. I stacked some of the trimmings for me to burn and gave a bunch to joe for the OWB. Its not to bad, for the end product is gorgeous. Wife says “ you selling that” uh mmm ahh
Oh yeah, he's pretty well camo'ed between the tarps. I love old oak, I've burned some that was around the bend and it still made heat.
Yea right, like i said iv been shaving off four corners, pretty much squaring them up with the splitter. Its worth the time for oak
The timber industry has many ways to store timber often for quite a long period(s) of time . A range of techniques from dry to wet, to even submerged.
I think these being stacked in a field helped a little. The ones with the bark nearl skinned off are in much better shape. Couple logs so far unrecognizable i think birch or maple. Its just about all red oak
