Got that too. A greensand filter to remove iron, then a softener, then a whole house sediment filter to catch whatever makes it past the first two.

There is so much iron in my water I swear I could cast engine blocks with it.

Old pump.png New pump.png OK so I installed the new well pump today and here are the old and new pumps!
After installing I adjusted the pressure switch to turn on at 35PSI and off at 60PSI.. New pump very quiet!

Turn on water, and pump kicks on and off every couple seconds.
It's about 5 years old....a Flotec combo unit.
Nice job changing out your pump.

Read the manual Dave sounds like you have an issue other than the pump.. Seems like the new check valve leaks by very slowly will keep an eye on this..

    Yeah, I don't think it's the pump.
I think the diaphragm (probably the wrong term)bit the big one.
Thanks for the link. I'll read through that.
ETA: I'll check the tank pressure tomorrow.
    Sorry for the hi-jack.

No hi-jack here hell we need to get this place rocking .. Too quiet but it should get busier soon as Fall is setting in.. Right now it's 41.5 degrees here and I ran a small load in the stove to take the chill off..

Papadave, if you have a air fitting on your tank depress the valve on it and if you get water out then the bladder is bad.

Gary, that's the plan for today....thanks.
If no water, I'll purge water pressure and try to pressurize the tank.
The website says there's a 5 year warantee, and I'm just beyond that. Hmmm.
Ray, it was 32 on the button about 8 this a.m., so yep, had another fire.
This week, we'll see more of that.

So Dave any progress with well pump short cycling? I did correct the slow leak problem and found it to be the clamps that secure black 1" plastic pipe weren't quite tight enough though I did tighten the clamps with a nut-driver.. This time I used a 1/4" drive ratchet .. Apparently the pump was sucking air in and causing a slow pressure loss..

The pump is set for 30-50, so I put 28 lbs. in, and I'll check it tomorrow to see if it held.
It's not been cycling as much, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.
