    Piston looks GOODER!
Now, to be honest, I've never torn a saw down, not even taken the muffler off my Husq 445, so I'm curious- the lower side(bottom) of the exhaust looks a little greazed up.... What causes that?
Again, I am not even a rookie with 2 stroke tear downs or repair, so go easy on me....

Looks almost like there was an exhaust leak out the bottom of the port between muffler and cylinder face.

I also see oil and some carbon on the bottom

Its been run at 32:1 with stihl ultra. Alot of oil imo, but needed in my ported saws.

Nice oily exhaust port and piston. Looks like it was tuned well also.

I don't see anything wrong with that. That doesn't look like bad carbon at all

I have ran this saw and will say it's a survivor. Hard pressed to find a nicer 046 than this, that has been ran.

I think it looks good as well. Not cooked up for sure.

Does anybody else think it looked lime an exhaust leak though? Looks like that oil/exhaust was blowing.g out the bottom?

Doesnt effect the saw any I still would love to have this saw!!!

The only reason I say that is that this lower lip of the flange is discolored and the top is not.

I agree I am no expert. But thats just what it looked like to me. Screenshot_2015-02-05-07-59-07.png

Must just be where the oil is seeping out then?

That's some carbon collecting in the area behind the exhaust gasket...... sign of a saw being tuned on the rich side, which probably accounts for why the piston looks new. A little Johnson/Evanrude engine tuner and a popsicle stick and that would be shiny again.

That doesnt bother me. Was more of an inquiry. Like I said its probably ex sees oil just seeping out the bottom due to gravity.

There is no damage to the saw or anything...look at that shiny smooth piston!!

They'll pull a 36" with the HO oiler. It won't be a speed demon stock with a 36".
