Just be careful what oil you use. I'm not sure about all the aftermarket friction disks but in the original the wrong oil would make the friction disk separate. Mike in Okla
These are actually dry clutches! I’ve heard that about wrong oils though. Swelling the linings or disintegrating them. The amount of PIA in this job would make you think twice about oil choice that’s for sure!
Actually the wrong oil would dissolve the glue that bonded the lining to the disk. I was a dealer for International and Dresser for 30 years (until Komatsu bought them out). Mike in Okla
Weeeelllll….. haven’t had much time this year and now that winters here he’s under a foot of snow! I’m hoping that when it warms up a bit and the snows gone I can make time to get him back together this spring.
Dissolved clutch bits would be bad news! I had an international 574 years ago that the parking brake lining came apart and went through the entire transmission! Needless to say major problems!
There’s a TD9B for sale locally that I saw the other day it’s got me drooling! I just have to keep telling myself NO!!!
I wish it didn’t bother me to have multiple projects going at the same time. For this reason, I often talk myself out of stuff. Sure I’ve missed some opportunities, but probably avoided some headaches along the way too
Yep lots of headaches and backed up projects here! I just keep saying it’s for retirement….. in another 30 years
I am digging this thread. My dad rebuilt a JD 430 crawler (2 cylinder) and uses it regularly, also has a JD 2010 crawler diesel waiting for some undercarriage work.
