It still won't pull a 28" bar, or oil it.
The 7910 has an inboard clutch, so he could just bring along an extra bar and chain... if it gets pinched, just pull the powerhead off and throw...
My Dolmar doesn't like to oil a 32". I run a 28" on mine and I think it's just right.
Exactly how I see it... They are the same saw, other than the P&C.
If you really do need to run a 28" bar on occasion, then the 7910... if you can make due with a 20" bar for most wood, the 6100 would be fine....
