I don't like other people bucking my logs. I want them 18ish inches, not somewhere between 15 and 22.
Thanks! After adding a log lift and big work table I would never split any other way again.
It's still damm hot here but I couldn't resist splitting and stacking. The sooner it gets off the ground the sooner it starts drying. [ATTACH]
Found a $100 bill recently. I don't get lucky like that very often.
Truck and old wood hauler [ATTACH] New wood hauler. It's a big improvement over the old one. This one is rated for 14k. [ATTACH]
I'm way better off than last year. I finally got ahead this year. Almost done with next years wood and there is a good 10 more cords of oak on...
It's a good thing he top covered those big rounds sitting in the dirt. Should really help speed up rot, especially the ones end grain down.
5-6 cords for heat and hot water until the cold was over then switched to electric hot water. We are heating 2200ish fairly well insulated square...

Yup, looking for a sucker to pick up a bunch of half rotten pallets.
Looks like a fair deal but man, my back hurts just looking at those things. A lot less work than an axe though.
You might not be able to get it in Orange. I emailed stewarts and they said they cannot sell it in dutchess but are trying to put it in locations...
A lot of the stewart's are starting to sell it. If you go on the website there is a list. I think he bought it somewhere south of the mid hudson...

If they don't, give the choker hook a try. $7 and a length of chain is a lot cheaper than tongs and it works.
I made a couple of chokers with this: http://www.labonville.com/516-Choker-Chain-Hook_p_91.html It worked it very well and never slipped off.
When I build my woodshed I pored concrete posts and built a level deck. I used to shim pallets for my other stacks to level them but now I just...
