Wedge design has a lot to do with how much pressure/force it takes to get a round to pop open...and there are some really bad designs out there!...

The ones with a plug that you have to pull out so you can chase the ashes down the little hole stink. But my Kuuma has a grate with a sealed...
You can buy just the bristles...but I just replaced mine with .100" weed eater line...it works pretty well. I bought some stuff that is kinda X...
As long as the knockouts aren't way bigger than the wire OD...but even if they are, you'd still have less air infiltration than if the black...
