Hey Timberlake, welcome. What kind of insert? Newer ones are pickier about wood than the older ones. Dead standing trees seem to be hit and miss....

That ironwood is sure worth getting. Wish I had more. Haven't had all that much but I like it a lot. See the weather finally arrived up there....

Yeah, I can get wood that I don't buy pretty cheap...everything else, not so much.

I have tons of locust and have been really impressed with ironwood. Had small amounts of hard maple before but have a cord that will be ready...

Wood is pretty cheap around here. I can get cords of hardwood delivered for $140. I like wood processing and it's all around me so I do it, but...

Oak is good wood but it's not gonna change your life that's for sure. Especially if you're already feeding your stove other hardwoods I agree...
