Three saws, at least 4 chains for each. Admittedly, the worst ones are for grinding rocks or carving my pot roast (same thing).
Has anyone else looked and felt around the cat air tube area yet? This is our second year with the IS. With a cold stove the radiator, cat and...
That's a good load of good wood. The more ash we burn, the more we appreciate it. Sadly, around here there won't be much left anymore soon.
Always chuckle when I hear "do you own a dog?" More accurate to ask "are you owned by any dogs?" At least they don't have to get us licensed.
X2 in our IS. Build a log cabin each reload.
Wowsa that one looks rotted out inside pretty bad. We have a huge maple adjacent to the yard that's almost completely hollow with rot, been...
So thankful to hear that you are OK after that. Reminds us all to take close care and plan for safety first. Thank you for posting and thank God...

Had the Encore 2550 (built in 2009) cat stove for 5 years but swapped it out for an Ideal Steel in Oct. 2014. Spent a lot of time tinkering with...
Welcome Fireplace911! Looking forward to the added expertise you bring about wood burning in general and about the Encore 2550 cat stove too.
Good job on keeping a new burner from slipping into "the dark side". Thinking back, it would sure have been excellent if we'd had you as a mentor...
What cleaning method did you do - vinegar bath, vinegar-water spray, dust and vacuum?
Great score and good on ya for helping cut for the other hoarders. We know what you mean about leaving BTU's behind, but sometimes it can't be helped.
Welcome aboard, 1964. You found a good place to yak & ratchet-jaw & laugh & learn too.
The stove is in the basement here. Overnight temp was 10°f. Loaded the stove last night as always before turning in and this morning the upstairs...
Excellent. That there is a sweet load. It would get us through two winters of burning. Very nice.
Most certainly do separate them. If a maple split is found in the oak stack, it must get moved to its brethren in the maple stack - right now....
