Not concerned with the pile of coals...they do have to burn down in order to fully load stove tho.. As far as draft goes.....my experience...
I have took notice for a good while..that when you have a pretty good pile of coals..how much more the heat omits from the stove with door opened...

25* os...71*is....temps are still fallin....noaa states 15*s for a low tonite......just threw in 2 split of oak...ill load her up before eye eye...
Actually the Reds look ok(knock on wood).....the Chestnut(Rock) oaks are known for growin in poor,rocky soil. There hasnt been much a bad drought...
