Moot point then...140* is fine...many big box splitters (like most people have) will run hotter than that if used hard for a while on a warm day,...
Sounds like the pump might have needed adjusted...shifting to low for more than a quick second should be rare unless you commonly split VERY...
The current price on the 25T CL at our local TSC is quite a bit less now than it was on BF...$899 (now)

Smart man...I just built one, starting out with an old 22 ton Huskee for the "bones"...it took WAY longer and more $$ than I thought for sure! But...
