Possible bad wheel speed sensor.Possible just needs a reset because tires are different size.
Newer ones dropped it.It detects auger jams and turns off motor.The motor you put in would probably eat through jams that would ruin old...

Also,if the new wing nut screws onto bolt ok,don't replace bolt,just use new wingnut for now.Bolt I believe screws in from back.
You also have 2 side panels to remove and vacuum on the left side.
You could cut handle off your brush and use in drill or buy cheaper brushes to cut off.Makes life easier....
If it was me,this late into day,would put coat hangar into cordless drill.
