I use this log hitch Log Hitch almost the same as farmer steve 's. I've skidded 25-30" diameter 16' green oak logs with it, no problems. Great tool.
I'd be a little careful with the New Holland Compact/Subcompacts. Their bigger tractors are nice though.
Some of them are o.k., hit-or-miss. They build the engines and put them in bodies from Korea or Japan. Some of their Mitsubishi-based tractors...
Hoobers is supposed to be very good. A member here works there. Messicks is good. Nice people and huge inventory of parts. Never compared prices
I very lucky that Messicks is like 20 minutes away from me.
Definitely consider getting your 026 rebuilt and ported. It should be the same or less money as a new "homeowner" saw for a far superior saw.

Keep leaning toward Kubota. They are excellent. As huskihl says, the "L" series is designed as a no-frills work horse, lower-price machine....

I have a T5. It is a great stove and completely simply. You are right though that the temp/heat output cycle is more extreme tham a cat stove....
