Bitternut leaflets are noticeably narrower, but also have up to 9 leaflets.
I used to put shorts on top of my stacks. For the most part I don’t bother stacking chunks anymore. I try not to create shorts.
I’d say you have a Mockernut. Pignut won’t have more than 7.
Possibly can you count the leaflets? Mockernut will have 7-9.
