    I'd run the down pipe to well longer depending on how fast it perks you will lose the siphon and have to reprime each time you use it

    I use a siphon to pump my pool cover off all winter except I cheat with a sump pump to prime it. A 1.5" old pool vacuum hose will move a lot of water.
