Red Maple is pretty low in the BTU chart but then again it's free and it dries quicker than oak.
The branching pattern greatly resembles red maple. Wish I could get a picture of the leaves but they're under 2 inches of snow.
About the same as white oak on the btu's then? Provided it's actually willow oak and not red maple, not the red maple is bad.:D
I have about 100' of line if things go bad. :yes: Biggest thing is it's pretty far from the house, and any power lines. (about 200')
Bark looks pretty similar. But I've never dealt with willow oak before.

I was thinking maple as well, just wasn't sure of the breed. Makes sense where it is as well.
Well further investigation revealed some ridges in the bark. Still not sure what kind of tree I'm dealing with.
