Depends on the time of year. For shoulder season well aged Pine and Maple, for cooler weather Oak, for the really cold nothing beats Locust.

black locust is a very dense hardwood that puts out a lot of heat and a very long burn. It is one of the best firewood in my book.
yes every chance that I get. I try to keep the locust for those days and nights when you want to snuggle in with a good hot fire in the stove.

Really nice load for the season,looks like you do premium firewood. I was able to bring in about a cord of oak and locust today.
Those are the days that I truly enjoy all of the wood stacked in my basement, along with the wood insert cranking out the heat.
If it ever cools off I will be moving some Oak and Locust into my basement for those cold and snowy days and nights.
