The chain becoming dull it typical with elm. There seems to be a ton of crap under the bark.
I would have to agree with that. I was out cutting up a bunch of Siberian elm today. When it is green it is dark in the center like the pictures.

The bark looks like elm. The center of the logs look a little dark but like what was previously said it could be the area the tree grew in.

I put a date on all my stacks of wood only when the stack is completed. Right now, I have some wood that I am burning that is 5 years old....
I do not think I could scrounge enough wood around here to keep that going. I would be wiped out in about 3 months.
Looks like a fair amount of work you got done. Plus, all the rounds that you have stacked and ready for splitting when that time comes back...
