That was my mistake. I looked at the leaves and thought Backwoods Savage said bitternut. Looking at it now I would also agree.

Fortunately that has not been a problem for me. Everybody around here wants the wood gone as quickly as possible and don't care if you run a saw....

These were pretty dry other than the water between the bark. The bark was breaking off as I was rolling the rounds to my car and it smelled like...
It was probably standing dead. There were a few large trunk pieces with center rot I left behind. Should be nice and primo for 2019.
I understand that. Everybody has a system that works best them. Grab what you can and hoard on.

Some of those hunks were heavy. I weighed one when I got home and it registered at 110 pounds. Well worth the pain.
Local tree guy dumps all the wood he cuts on his property and its free for the taking. I spotted some black locust in the back and I took 4 loads...
We at the FHC do some crazy thing for wood to include stalking. I would probably do the same for locust as well. :rofl: :lol:
There might be some stiff competition for that black locust.
