There's going to be a heat extravaganza in my living room in a few days if the forecast is right.
That sounds terrifying & I'd like to read more about it.
If Sam Adams is paying attention, they'll soon change the name to 'polar vortex', it'll sell better.
Good time to be burning, coming up. I'm not a weather enthusiast - are terms like 'polar vortex' and 'arctic outbreak' anything more than a fancy...
Nice hauler & welcome!
The stacks are looking almost as nice as the mountains behind them. Nice work as always.
Love it - using your skills & tesources to help a friend when he needs it.
Nice looking splits, there. I haven't had much splitting to do since spring. I genuinely miss it.
Pretty mild climate here, lowest I've had so far is 26F. My stove's a little undersized, though, so I love this time of year when it doesn't take...
Exactly, I love burning n/s, but the splits have to be <12"- unstackable. My compromise is to have some n/s kindling at the bottom of the load...
Nice looking load, good luck with the HH!
Just walnut so far this season. It burns pretty well, but, yeesh, I'm emptying the ashpan as often as if I were burning 24-7.
[ATTACH] Oh, and here's the whole trunk...
[ATTACH] This would be my record - I don't know how many splits though. That's an 18" bar & the widest dimension was right at 36". BL to boot.
I just made mine today. No old candles so I bought 3 lbs of paraffin~ $10. Got about 140 1" square starters. Should last me awhile :)
With clearances, it'll also occupy a high percentage of your square footage. A reddy heater or some other space heater would heat it up in no time.
The tree's a weed, but there's nothing wrong with burning the wood. I burned quite a bit last year & it's not bad shoulder-wood.
Good call Basod, I'd rather transplant acorns than trees that size. Plus, firewood when the view is affected.
Awesomeness! Well done, Sir!
I once saw one that said "Trespassers will be Violated" Now that'd be a deterrent!!
