Loving the oak and the husky.
After those nice cribbed ends he'd better have some beer.:D
Turned out to be mostly red maple, with some cherry mixed in, mostly under 4 inches but there was some 12+ inch red maple. No pics yet as I can't...
Some nice wood you have there. Even though cedar is a soft wood I'd still take it, makes a great fire starter from what I know.
Nope that branch definitely wasn't there, boss. But yes those saw chips were there when I drove by...
I'll know more tomorrow afternoon when I go to look at it.
Fairly certain that's red elm. My first full year at my current place we burnt a lot of white elm. Standing dead and it was nice and bone dry,...
I've had squirrel, not bad.
Saw my share of ants fleeing the sound of a chainsaw and the bar and chain oil.
Oak is some good stuff and seeing some punk on the outside is not uncommon for fallen oak, but it's a tough tree, doesn't mean the heartwood is...
I smells red elm. Gooder stuff and splits easier than it's white brother, burns better too. Smells bad when cut though.
Looked at an odd on CL, someone wants to get rid of some logs from the power company topping of trees. Add says mixed hardwoods but I'll know more...
34 tons will do that to most woods.
Landscapers dropping off landscaping timbers?
I hear it splits harder too because it never grows straight, even worse for orchard or domesticated apple trees that get constantly pruned.
Might just be the areas. I know that where I live there's a lot of moisture that never really leaves the ground, so I tend to take the safe rather...
If red maple is any indication it will rot in rounds in a year or so. Striped maple and silver maple is far less a period of time. I'd rather top...
A nice saw and a beautiful splitter, As everyone else has said, just keep at it and it will all become firewood.
My bad, thought I saw a hemlock log in there. On second look it's definitely a maple.:emb: Rain to break up the 70's weather we have been having...
Best beer table I ever saw.
