I hand split or sawed up until eight months before my seventh Birthday. I now have a hydro splitter.

All good. These were small rounds. When it comes to the big rounds the splitter goes vertical.
Where I am bent over all that split wood was stacked there. It was a turn around and split. The rounds were 10&12 inch so it was easy peasy.
