Well that was cool he let you take some. Maybe he will be there again next time you go.
I would also go for the beech first
Man that is a lot of great red oak going to waste. They don’t allow cutting there with your chainsaw right?
Great score! Looks like white oak to me. I am also impressed with you loading some big pieces. Oak is heavy
Lots of good wood there!
Probably inexperienced and/or don’t know any better?
I cringe whenever I see videos of this happening..
Glad it wasn’t worse and that you’re ok. My friend was trying to show off with his Fiskars and tried to split some red oak one handed and got...
I think OP said his work is closer to the wood score. So he goes after work. 30 minutes isn’t bad for all that hickory
This
Great dedication and great score! Totally worth it.
There is going to be so much sawdust when you’re finished!
Yeah I get that, plus you load your pick up truck quite full. That’s a lot of climbing in and out of the truck bed too which can be tough.
I don’t mind them as much now since I got a Stihl 661, makes quick work of the big ones.
Thanks! I agree about the big ones. I take whatever is available
Great score, a lot of work but it will be worth it!
I have a hydraulic splitter so I don’t mind the big rounds, I just roll them onto my trailer. Yesterday’s load was nice not being big rounds...
I have personally never burned any before. I have some in my stacks seasoning that will be ready in a few years.
Thanks, these sized rounds are definitely a little easier to handle. Plus I will only have to split them in half
Yes it’s 70% locust, 20% shagbark hickory, and 10% elm
