If Pellet Smokers can do this with WiFi then why not wood pellet heating stoves?

    Hello
If the pellet smokers can do this why not the wood pellet heating stoves?
The new GMG grills not only have local mode but server mode using WiFi on the smartphone app,
Due to FCC regulations you cannot start a wood pellet grill remotely. Only locally, that is why blue tooth is used for many such apps. This new GMG Daniel Boone DBWFSS model grill has a local mode to start the grill and a server mode to monitor the temps if you go out on an errand when smoking an 8 hour brisket!
In server mode you cannot start the grill and potentially burn the house down if it is next to a combustible material and of course you ca not see it! Great philosophy, don’t junk your car if a small knob is broken?
So lockout the starting of the stove but be able to see and control the temperature! Good engineering!
By the same token if you can manually turn on your pellet stove and go on an errand then why not with your phone in the same manner??

    Side Note:
All the pellet grills are going Direct Drive to keep temps constant! This means starting and stopping fans and auger motors a lot! The new Brushless DC motors are perfect for that! AC motors would kill the semiconductors especially the triacs! These grills can also be plugged into the car cigarette lighter or used on a boat! So they are just as good as the new Thelin Pellet Stoves (2010 and newer) with brushless motors and last a long time! Also having a surge protector on a DC stove is far from a critical much needed device for an AC stove!
The older Thelin brush type motors did need more servicing!

    Any comments?

Yes, that is a workaround because the stove maker is not responsible for a separate WiFi T-Stat. :)

Sorry, been away, read this several times, yet i do not understand the issue. Why would you want a pellet stove to limit its remote controllable options?

    Hi Bob
Currently No manufacturer can produce a pellet stove with WiFi control because if you are far away and cannot see if there is any combustible material next to the stove and start the house and the house burns down then it is a fault with the pellet stove. Therefore if the stove cannot be turned on unlesss you are local it relinquishes the manufactures liability and gives the user the most types of remote control and distant monitoring and temp control.
There are some china stoves with blue tooth remotes but they only work locally.
The WiFi thermostats sold separately are at the user’s risk and not tied to the manufacturing.

Pellet Grills with WiFi from the manufacturer can only be started locally but can be monitored from far away and comply with FCC regulations. :)
Local only blue tooth not needed here!

Um really? I guess i am confused, some pellet stoves can be controlled by phone,by internet, which generally go through WIFI in the residence. RIKA was the front runner of this system, many years ago.Bit perhaps I do not fully understand. Anyway, been busy, nice to talk to you,Don.

Pellet stoves start and stop all the time by T stat.... stoves don't normally have issues with being parked by combustibles.... (Permanently mounted in a safe spot)

No different than an oil furnace or ????? (But some folks can manage to screw anything up)

Starting the grille remotely could be an issue if somebody forgot to move it out of the garage and into a safe place and then lit it via wifi while at work.

This is a good safety feature (Manual start with Blue tooth or WIFI monitoring only)

What would really suck would be to BUTTDIAL your grille and fill the house with smoke :picard:

I have ours hooked up to a wifi t-stat and really like the ability to control it remotely. Well, the on and off part or remotely adjusting the schedule. I do wish I had the ability to set different settings; heat level, feedrate, ect.
