Smoking with cherry question

Can wild cherry be used with good results or should it be from a real cherry tree?

 

I've used wild cherry in my smoker with good results. You gotta do something with the cookies amiright!

 

I use it all the time. It can be very strong though in a smoker that uses a lot of wood

 

I use it also... very good with turkey, sausage, burgers, ... well everything.

 

It can smolder if there isn't enough pieces in the fire and split small enough. Just don't let the fire run out with cherry burning.
With a strong fire there is no excess smoke.

 

I used some this past weekend smoking chicken drumsticks and the results were great.

 

I have a good bit of wild cherry in my stacks I'll have to try some.
