Hopefully we don’t go 30-40° below the average high of 70° in F’s here (past couple of days) until next fall.

But it’s still April, and down here in the Blue Ridge, we could see that happen into May...

    :whistle::confused:

    Yes it is.
    "MORE GOODER"
We were in town (5 miles away) the clouds parted and the sun came out.

We dashed home and grabbed the tractor and run a barrel of shells up to the house in a hurry.

Dragged Munchy outside and went at it.

    Timed it too.
Took 28 minutes to crush a 55 gallon barrel, and this included the time to yank the blue tub out several times, pour it in another barrel and return it to the Munch and fill the tub again.

Stopped by the plant and showed off the video...
Also got the word that they are likely NOT going to have the $$ in the budget this year to install the old hopper system.

I am glad that I built Munchy when I did and not waited...hoping for the "old times"

So we are good to go now...

Doggy is trading a really screwed up world for a less screwed up one. Both are insane just is his former one was easier on him.

Doggy... Good deal as long as you are happy.

I made two big changes in my career BACK IN THE DAY...
I got my degree in automotive tech in college and there was the usual talk from the Instructors "You can go get a good job wrenching with zero bother" YEAH RIGHT

The only thing available was a job washing cars....not wrenching on them.

After 6 months of do nothing jobs I went to work for a wood products machinery builder... worked through their 4 year program, got my journeyman ticket.... Actually did Fab, Welding, hydraulics, machine shop and electrical all in about 6 years.

Got bounced from department to department.

Then got promoted to Field service engineer.. (Fancy name for GO MAKE IT WORK)

After 20 years with the company I was burnt out and wanted a change,

Good friend was into dump trucking....this looked like a nice change.

Soooooooooooo...bought a truck, fixed it up and got in with the local pits as a contract hauler.

A year later I bought my first Transfer rig.... 3 years later bought a new transfer rig and never looked back.

It was a good career move.

Sometimes ya just gotta do it....

The weather is looking like today should be a great day...
We have planned to really give Munchy a workout today.

If the plan comes together we are going to plow into the stash of little round bowl looking things (1/2 shells)

Still have a couple things I want to CHANGE, MODIFY..FINISH, but for now it's full speed ahead.

Weather has not been exemplary, but good enough to plow through 4 barrels of shells and filled up our barrels in the basement.

Sunny, a passing spritz, then more sun.

I lied. I got sick of seeing the snow on the ramp so cleared it off last night. The temperature took a major upswing overnight and is raining now. Surely would have melted this morning. Now to see if the snow piles beside the ramp, on the north side of the house and a few other places go away.

Bear.... naps are a good thing .... :D

Today's weather sucks...we met friends for breakfast and came home...

Decided to finish up the belt guard on Munchy.....The main guard was fine, but the ends still needed caps to prevent an INCIDENT.....

I fastened the motor end on permanently with heavy pop rivets, but the other end needed to be removable to gain access to the hopper side bolt that holds the guard.
Drilled and tapped the aluminum angle on the cover side and bolted the plate on..

Scared up enough scraps in from the corner and searched drawers for the rivets.

    Should be quite safe now.....

After we get a bit of nice weather and maybe a bit of xtra time we can paint the beast....

I’m working on getting a tree stump out. From a massive norway maple that had to come down six years ago. Have cut two of 6 main roots.

I want to plant another tree in the same spot, so need to get the stump out as opposed to just ground.

For a tree of that size you'll need at least 7 Formosan termite queens and their colonies and to wait awhile.
