Looks like you scored anoyine of your favorites don. CB1200. I missed out on a nice looking Castile the other day. Mahogany porcelain finish with a ton of pellets for $500 or BO. Wonder if someone on here scooped it up

    Don...
I will give you the long story.
The shells we burn in our stoves used to be a nice even small size (Pinky fingernail for reference) This past summer due to new food safety laws the company we deal with built an entirely new facility with all new machinery.

The new plant machinery does a fine job of cracking the shells into cute little 1/2 round pieces.....

Sadly this size of material does not work in the stoves..

Also the stuff is very light in weight by volume in bulk when hauling due to the vast quantity of air in between the loose round hollow nature. (Reduces my hauling weight from 2700 pounds per load to no more than 1600 pounds.

The plant manager knew the issue when the new system was started up and advised us of such.

He offered to loan us a portable "cracker" that could be adjusted to reduce the shells to a more even "Usable size"

    We named the machine "Munchy"

We were able to use the machine up until March 18th when they needed it back for a sampling job (That's it's use...sampling nuts from customers prior to quoting them a price per ton
    Sooooooooooo.
The plan is for the company to reinstall their old shell removal system this summer...

The official word is "into next season at the earliest"

I decided not to wait until the other shoe drops and maybe for whatever reason the change gets delayed or ????????
Borrowing the company machine may not be possible when we would need it next fall, and the plant is going to operate until the end of May.

After we returned the company machine "Munchy" I started designing and building our own machine.

    GREEN MACHINE.....Borrowed "Munchy"

    OTHER PIX.... My creation

    This is now officially.... Munchy

Those deals come along from time to time...
I scored a lovely Whitfield Advantage 2T a while back with a ton of pellets.

It had been used to heat a greenhouse when the Weather was below freezing.
After evicting a large family of mice and a good cleaning the stove sold easily.

    Kept the pellets for us...

Yes...The magnets polarize the nut shells and makes them burn hotter.

    Seriously now

Those magnets are a real life saver when clamps are not going to work.
I have several sizes on the tool shelf.

IIRC these were from Harbor Freight tool.

Great for setting up small parts (Sheet metal especially)

    Thanks for the good points..

I worked in the machinery building business for over 20 years before getting into heavy trucking.

My dad was a Machinist, fabricator, welder and tool and die maker...
Learned a lot from him over the years.. He passed in 1995

The other day when I was struggling to machine the rotor for Munchy (My lathe is a bit too small for that size part) The setup I had was a tad sketchy and I am sure that dad was there making sure things went well.

I had been trying to come up with a good plan, and all of a sudden it all became very clear what would work. Definitely had the strange feeling that the old man was there turning the handles.

Yes that Castile sounded like a good deal!
These Quadrafire stoves really crank and are good to work with. This is at the least, my 4 th one I picked up. A lot of panels to paint! I wish I could keep one of these someday!
    They go quick. :-(
This one needed a good cleaning on the jambed auger and a new CB.

Wow, you are amazing to fabricate that!!! Good Luck with it!
Does it have a grinder type blade that needs sharpening once and a while???

Also will that work on Acorns?
That would be a lot of FREE heat around here!!!
    Or
Will this work for processing Acorns?

Yes.Am running a set right now.The winter ones do well in snow, yet not too noisy on dry road. These have about 500 miles on them, owners van blew up.They sell for 160 each, out here,so well worth the 300,and 55 in gas i spent, for wheels and tires. An got a nice scenic ride.
