I have recently aquired an old dual axle flat bed trailer. It measurs 7'x12'. My plan is to build me some sort of a trailer that I can use a winch to load the logs onto and have some sort of a deck or cradle for bucking logs and then have them remain on the trailer for splitting. I have come into a good supply for wood and plan to do a lot of cutting/splitting and stacking during the off season. Trying to come up with a design that will increase production. Pictures, drawings and all other ideas are appreciated
For logs I really like the cradle idea that lifts the end of the log up and into the trailer. Will have to look later for an example.
Wasnt me, i had 12 footer though that i loved, sold, and wish i still had.. I put a bunch of work into it. Luckily, i know who i sold it to, i know where the guy lives, and he is to contact me if he ever sells it. I need to stop by his house and remind him... lol
When I built my trailer I added a winch mount to the tongue using a hitch receiver tube so the winch can mount to either the truck or the trailer. Here’s the link I can’t seem to find the pics on my phone of the winch mount I’ll have to go get a pic for you. So begins the trailer rebuild.
This sounds awesome! Do you happen to know the weight rating of the axles? Do you know the GVWR on the registration? Common ratings are about 3500# or 5000# per axle for a total of about 7K or 10K GVWR. That will help you get started with how much you want to invest.
