I'm not a fan of refurb units only because depending on the (original) issue, you may be inheriting someone else's headache.. but given the present need.. if it makes sense - then sure - go for it.

I should not have told the Mrs. about saving 1/2 the :makeitrain"...................... :BrianK:

Looks like we are steering towards a Tripp Lite OMNIVS1500XL as it has way more capacity on the extended battery option. Not sure its true syn though. Need to do some more diggin!! But instead of only 9 amp hr add on, It has 10 different options on the additional battery. So I might be able to slave in my boat AGM batteries in the off season for longer back up. also says you can hot swap them which is also cool!!

Did you contact Enviro to see what the power requirement is? If you only need modified sine wave then the above appliance should work. If you need pure sine wave, you will need something else...

Just stumbled across this product which says it is pure sine wave and you can adjust the number of batteries to suit your needs...

Stove Sentry: Emergency Backup for Pellet Stoves and Kerosene Heaters

Looks like the 707 would be appropriate. The 500 series are not pure sine wave..

Ya I figured, So far most of the expandable models have been PWM. Looks like triplite smart series is about the only one I see thats pure sine and expandable.. Looking for deals on this one right now.

    :makeitrain"

I will do some looking into them. I do like the fact you use your own agm's.

I think there's one complete setup listed up on CL for about 3 benjamins currently.

No real experience w/ the TrippLite ups units (just wasn't in my IT universe / was always APC) but have used & installed more than a few of their line conditioning devices: always impressed w/ the quality & high grade components in those devices - heavy (!) duty and long life, in my experience.

I didn't read the fine print and it looks like the tripplite drops to 450 watts once you slave in extra battery capacity. It'l be close on start up............ o_O Maybe just use it like I initially intended and slave in a relay in the stat circuit so it just cycles off? I'll have to test it out good first!!

Found the connectors, Seems us bass boat guys use them on the power poles(shallow water anchors)!! :D ordered a couple sets for $20 clams from the local marine dealer. Woot!!

Edit: Forgot to post pictures last night. Here they are for proof. I'll pick it up on my way home tonight!! :) Start building a rack/stand for it between watching the rolex 24. :D

CleanFire I know you said not to stab batteries into a UPS. But these units had me curious when I looked at the charts for optional storage. Seems they are way more expandable than I'll even need!! Popping in my 2 12v agms(24V in series) would be like adding 3 of the BP24V70-3U pack's. 70 is the AH rating, So 3 is approx 210 AH and the 2 AGM together would be really close. Just need to configure the UPS to 3 packs! :)

Also want to thank all you fella's for the input and idea's. Much appreciated! I'll keep ya all posted on the testing of it. Worser case is I have a stand alone unit to buffer the blips!!

I did JT - on the newer "consumer grade" UPS units, the recharge circuitry has been reduced, for size & weight. Both APC and Cyberpower units do a "slow recharge" now, spec'd to the internal battery pack - takes 6/8/12 hours to slow charge the batteries, after power is restored. That APC BR1500G unit you were looking at, being 1 generation back vs. current: is one of the units that still has more capable recharge circuitry / external expansion capability in a mid-range UPS model.

But that bad boy there - sure has the "stones" to handle what you want to do .. you "wild-and-crazy" guy.

    x2!

I'm likely not gonna trust the built in charger. I have a auxiliary I use on the boat batteries. 60 amp boost, 10 amp and 2 amp trickle. Seeing I can hot swap the batteries, I'll disconnect and use the boosted charger and save the units built in...... JIC.

My guess is NO since this is one of two UPS' recommended by Harman for a controlled shut down in case of power outage. That means they have tested it and found that the stove can tell when it is using the UPS versus outside current.

Oops, see you already got that answer.

Welp got the rack built and started playing. Found the unit would not turn on. Started checking battery voltage and they were "way" low. Charged all night and still no power on?? Pulled the batteries out and bench charging. Both were at 4 volts! o_O They are charging though......... Just wrenched the works. I'll bring them up to 9 volts with a low amp wall wart. Hoping the unit will begin to charge them after that??

Otherwise I gotta go out and get the gennies maintainer/charger.
