Sorry, I do not. Can you determine if the flywheel magnet reaches the coil gap at about top dead center? If you sheared a key, it would be off, preventing the saw from running, and could have been your slow death as it moved further from where it should have been.
I got that inclination from a friend today. Looks like I need a puller to remove the fly? Piston seems tdc when the mag swipes the coil. I suppose a few degrees would not be visibly obvious though. Looks like a trip to the shop is in the near future. Hate paying other people to fix my chit....
Key was intact. Spindle has no evidence of key drift. Shot some starter fluid directly into the piston and still no ignition. Baffled.
Piston pic sans muffler might help. If ya have no spark, a good coil would eliminate that possibility. Don’t waste your time chinese ones. Ask me how I know.
Compression is not the issue for sure. If the decomp is not activated the pull is a b**ch just as it always has been. I think I am going to pull the carb next. Maybe the presence of fuel vs adequate fuel is the issue.
I If it won't even pop on mix or carb cleaner l'd bet it's spark. Weak or missing under compresssion. A plug or weak coil will sometimes show an orange spark in the open & not fire in the cylinder. Should be a blue spark even at . .030 gap on a tester. If not, weak coil is a good bet.
Spark was blue. Could only see it in the dark with a quick pull. A wise man once said "A man has to know his limitations". I sense mine are slapping me in the face.
It's sounding like fuel is OK . To completely rule out or rule in the coil try wrapping the entire spark plug wire up to the coil including the boot with electrical tape. If you were running hard maybe the insulation heated up and created a micro hole or fracture that you can not see. Even though you got spark with the plug out the wire may be positional. In the past I have a car that ran funny from a similar issue. I could not see where the boot was compromised. It's just an idea and cheap test.
Good thought. I was just finishing up checking the plug wire to what extent I could. Tried resistance at the plug end while twisting and pulling the wire looking for shorts. I wrapped the wire twice with electrical tape. No dice. If I worked at my job for all these hours of effing with the saw I could dam near buy another. Uggh. Smelled fuel as I tried to get her running, so again have to rule out catastrophic carb failure. Seems most of these ghost problems are electrical. Going to order a new coil today.
