Only ran her for around 20 minutes this evening, break-in has commenced. It's running a richer mix, as well as tuned fat on the top end...

Made a few cookies out of some big spruce rounds I have in my woodpile, but the phone died before I could video it. I'll try to get a video in the am of some cuts...

It's gonna be a fun saw!

No Kevin, this is a saw I bought cheap as a basket case and I used an OEM cylinder that Redfin had and did some work on for me. The saw we were talking about was a MS660, I finished that one up a few weeks back. I did what we talked about with the exhaust, as well as worked the intake side over, here is that saw....

It pulls with authority too, I'm going to check all the screws over and let the owner pick it up this weekend. I tried to talk him out of it, but he wants it.....lmao

Get it hot and re-tighten the inner muffler screws. Somehow they like to loosen up

Indeed, also gonna check the jug base screws. When i bought this 064 a few weeks back, the jug was loose.....I think that's what killed the piston and rings. The rings were worn halfway down on the exhaust side and the piston was toast.

That being said, do you ever use blue loctite (removable) on jug screws? I didn't use any, but was wondering if anyone does that.

I don't normally. Usually i use motoseal and intentionally smear some down in the holes. But yeah, blue loctite will work fine

I usually don’t use anything on pro-style saws at that location. I will take the extra few minutes and spray the screws and holes with a good cleaner. I install them dry and check torque after a few heat cycles. If I’m going gasketless or have a suspect mating surface, I’ll let some 518 get in the holes like mentioned above.
I purposely let some Dirko get on clamshell screws , though.

I only ran it that first evening, I've been too busy since. Was gonna use it some today, then this chit weather moved in....lol

I'll keep ya posted, it seems like it has some decent torque, sounds pretty mean, and I did rip it through some spruce rounds, but I've got it running fat.

Boy you aren't kidding. Just the kind of weather we needed here in central PA. Might as well just keep making mud :picard:

Redfin here's a video of a couple cuts. Saw has some good torque, cuts with authority. Once I do a base gasket/squish band on it it'll really pull.

    Someday.

Good enough for what I do with it....
